1. Microphone and sound processing
When you start a measurement or calibration, Sound Meter uses the microphone to process sound on your device and calculate sound-level values. A replayable measurement recording is saved only if you explicitly enable the “Save Measurement Recording” setting. These local recordings are not automatically uploaded by the app.
2. Measurement records and local data
Measurement records, scenes, favorites, observation settings, calibration information, playback preferences and other app settings are primarily stored locally on your device. Sound Meter does not require a developer-operated user account or cloud profile.
3. Photos and sound postcards
If you choose a photo for a sound postcard, the app imports only the photo you select. The selected image is processed locally and re-encoded for the postcard workflow. The app does not automatically attach your photos to feedback or upload them to a developer-operated account.
4. Advertising
The free version of Sound Meter uses Google AdMob interstitial advertising. Depending on your region, device settings and consent choices, Google Mobile Ads may process information such as device identifiers, approximate location derived from IP address, advertising data, product-interaction data, crash data and performance data for advertising, measurement, fraud prevention and service operation.
Users with an active verified Pro entitlement do not receive in-app interstitial ads.
5. Advertising consent and privacy choices
Where required, Sound Meter uses Google User Messaging Platform to request or update advertising consent before ads are requested. When Google requires a privacy-options entry point, the app provides an advertising privacy choice inside its Privacy screen so you can review or change applicable advertising choices.
6. In-App Purchases
Monthly Pro, Yearly Pro and Permanent Pro are processed through Apple’s App Store and StoreKit. Apple handles payment information and transaction processing. Sound Meter uses verified StoreKit entitlement information to determine access to Pro features and whether in-app ads should be removed.
7. Exports, backups and sharing
Exports and sharing occur only after you take an action. Numeric backups contain supported record data and metadata. Full backups may include sanitized local photos where supported. Measurement audio recordings are not included in the app’s backup files.
8. Data sharing and sale
We do not sell your personal information. Data may be processed by Apple and Google for platform purchases, advertising, consent management, diagnostics and related service functions under their applicable policies and legal obligations.
9. Retention and deletion
Local app content remains on your device until you delete it using available controls, clear relevant data, or delete the app. Information processed by Apple or Google is retained according to those providers’ policies and applicable law. Support email correspondence is retained only as reasonably necessary to resolve requests, maintain support records, comply with law or prevent abuse.
10. Measurement limitations
Sound Meter is a personal observation tool. It is not a medical device, occupational-compliance meter, legal evidence instrument or certified professional sound level meter. Device hardware, calibration, system behavior and measurement conditions can affect results.
11. Children
Sound Meter is a general-purpose utility. The app does not require a child account or provide public social or messaging features.
12. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the app, legal requirements or third-party services change. For privacy questions, contact xinnuotec@163.com.
